Ecumenical We are part of the Body of Jesus Christ, the Church catholic (universal) and apostolic. The style of our worship service may differ from those to which you are accustomed. We attempt to reflect the diversity within Christianity, including elements from every Christian tradition, blending them to create a mosaic of new worship experiences. We uphold and believe in the historic creeds of the Church while proclaiming the Good News in contemporary, inclusive language, so that ALL may know they are welcome in the dominion of God. We believe in the Gospel, or Good News. Jesus Christ lived that we might know how to live, died to conquer death for us, and rose again that we might have life abundant and eternal. "God did not send Christ into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through Christ" (John 3:17). We believe that God is active in our lives today through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This enables us to strengthen, help, and heal one another as we change the world. We believe that God has given everyone the choice between life and prosperity or death and despair. We choose life, and we believe that God has empowered us to proclaim this Good News so that others can be set free to be. You, too, can experience this freedom. Almost every service includes the celebration of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion, or the Eucharist) because Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me." The early Church in the Acts of the Apostles included this as the central part of every Church gathering and we continue in that tradition, using various traditions enjoyed by the Church for the last two thousand years. This sharing of bread and wine strengthens us in our faith and in our service to God and to one another. We use nonalcoholic wine exclusively, and celebrate what is called "Open Communion." You need not be a member of this or any other Church, but only desire a renewed life in Christ to participate. Jesus is the Host. We are all invited to share, not just as His guests, but as His friends. |
